Assessment and Diagnosis
Experiencing symptoms while not knowing what is wrong can be a scary and confusing experience. Having a diagnosis can help ease anxiety and guide treatment. In many ways, psychological testing and assessments are similar to medical tests. When a patient has physical symptoms, a physician may order tests to understand what's causing those symptoms and the results will help inform develop a treatment plan. Psychological evaluations serve the same purpose.
Psychologists use tests and other assessment tools to measure and observe a client's symptoms, behaviors and level of functioning to arrive at a diagnosis and guide treatment.
